What a first skin consultation is actually for - and why we start there
Two people can walk in with the same complaint - skin looking dull and tired - and need completely different things. That is the whole reason a consultation comes first: the visible concern rarely tells you the cause on its own.
The same look, different reasons
Take dullness. Sometimes it is mostly a build-up of dead surface skin sitting on top. Sometimes it is skin that is low in moisture underneath, even when it feels oily on the surface. Often it is a mix, plus climate, lifestyle and a routine that may not suit your skin. Each of those points to a different next step, which is why guessing from a photo or a symptom alone tends to miss.
A skin consultation is where we work that out - a proper look at your skin type, your concerns and what your skin actually needs, rather than reaching for a fixed menu.
What the session involves
It is a relaxed, no-pressure 30 minutes. We assess your skin type, talk through your goals, and explain the options honestly.
- A real look at your skin, not a rushed one
- Honest, tailored advice - including whether a treatment suits you or not
- A realistic plan, or simply guidance if that is what suits
And yes, it is genuinely complimentary. We would always rather give you honest advice first than book you into something that may not help.
Why honest beats quick
Sometimes the right answer is a considered in-clinic step for dull, dehydrated skin. Sometimes it is a simpler home routine. The point of starting with a consultation is that the plan is built around your skin - so you understand what is, and what is not, suited to you before you decide anything.
Results vary from person to person, which is exactly why one-size-fits-all rarely holds up.
